How to be a tourist in Hondarribia
We’re revisiting the “How to be a tourist” section, by popular demand.
Dedicated to all those who work during the summer
and can’t go on vacation.
Don’t worry, friends,
and just act like a tourist on your day off.
Today we want to take you to
the planet of
HONDARRIBIA
Take the E21 bus from Donostia
and in 30 minutes by highway
you’ll find yourself in the center of Fuenterrabia.
Wander up the charming cobbled streets…
…until you reach the grand Parador,
admire the view
and if the moment’s right
go inside
where upon crossing the threshold
time stops.
Also known as the Castle of Carlos V,
its construction dates to the 10th century.
If you feel like it, in the Tourism Office,
which is right in front of the Parador in the Plaza de las Armas,
you can sign up for a guided visit of
Hondarribia, the walled city
for 6,00 €.
It is one and a half hours and begins at 11:30am.
If you decide to keep walking,
head out of the walled part of the city by one of the many gates
and let yourself be taken…
…all the way to the sea.
And if the sun is out at midday
the Marina neighborhood
with the fishermen’s houses on two brightly-colored levels
awaits you.
Our choice: the Bar Conchita
After the appetizer, linger…
A special wonder leads us to the Restaurant ZERIA,
where our great father made many people very happy through the magic of his stove.
The house is lovely.
Built in 1575, it was restored in 1965,
the year in which it began its journey as a restaurant.
In the restoration, beneath the foundation,
the skeleton of a whale was found.
Its bones date back to the year 1464.
We also have pending a visit
to another restaurant, this time vegetarian,
called
“The Green Curry”.
We would also like to try the Restaurant Arroka Berri, Sebastián, and Alameda,
among others.
From this humble blog
we call out to the universe that when you have something good
contact us,
we’ll go happily
And if you feel like going to France
take the boat that in a splish-splash lands you in another country…
We hope you have enjoyed
our little visit.
Goodbye Hondarribi
It’s been a pleasure.
..sis and the city
If you wanna drink something, don’t take the car, just the Bus 😉
Maravilloso lugar!
